Back in the year 2010, I stumbled upon a news story in passing that unknowingly shaped my future. The story featured comedian and talk show host Rosie O’Donnell, who, for her 50th birthday, took her entire family on a remarkable cruise vacation. Little did I know, that serendipitous moment had planted a seed in my mind. Rosie wasn’t really anyone I knew much about or followed but I did like her stand up comedy.
I remember knowing immediately deep down this was also going to happen for my 50th birthday as well. I didn’t know how. i just knew that I was going to make that happen because how cool was that?! I didn’t think about it at all for many years but I recall at the time I just knew I would be celebrating the big 5-0 on a cruise with my family.
Fast forward to 2022, I am now the founder of my own travel business. This was no where in my plans for my future. It wasn’t until 2020 or 2021 during the COVID pandemic that the travel business really materialized. But with the launch of my business, I had already unknowingly embarked on the journey of manifesting this unforgettable birthday cruise.
With owning your own travel business comes a few perks. Discount cruises anyone? How about discounted cruises that also pay a commission?! As 2023 rolled around, meticulous planning began. I chose one of Carnival Cruise Line’s newest and largest ships the Carnival Mardi Gras and it so happened their itinerary the week of my birthday was exactly what I was looking for: the south Caribbean! Excitement filled the air as we envisioned the joy of being together on our upcoming cruise adventure.
Just before the end of the year 2023 I stumbled on the journal reflection I had written about that news story over a decade ago. The realization struck my core! What once seemed like a distant fantasy in passing was now on the verge of becoming an awesome reality. The journey from inspiration to manifestation had come full circle.
In the January of 2024, me and the adults in the family set sail on the Carnival Mardi Gras, celebrating my 50th birthday in grand style. The cruise, infused with laughter, adventure, and shared moments, mirrored the spirit of Rosie O’Donnell's celebration that sparked it all.
What started as a news story a decade ago seen only in passing planted a seed that blossomed into a memory etched in the hearts of our family and I’ll be forever grateful for that blessing.
