I also remember Grandpa Martin bringing on one trip a counter used on machinery at the GE plant where he worked. We counted cars going the opposite direction - click click click click click - allllllll the way from south Indiana to Central Florida! Kids today have NO idea of the struggles of travel growing up in the 1980's.

Of all of our family's vacations there is one tradition I never understood as a child and rebelled against in my teens and young adulthood. But I've grown to understand beyond the practicality of easily being able to find each other in crowds this is one tradition that makes a Martin vacation extra colorful in its own way.
Sometimes we go all in.
